Robotics Engineer
Description
A Robotics Engineer at CSR designs, builds, and tests machine prototypes, as well as develops and maintains the software that controls them. They also conduct research to find the most cost-efficient and appropriate process(es) to manufacture the robotic components.
Responsibilities
- Design and model hardware and electrical components for in-house or third party manufacturing using 3D CAD, CAM, CAE software
- Develop and integrate ROS packages for robotic systems
- Use and maintain FDM 3D printers
- Assemble/disassemble robotic systems
- Iterate through system prototypes to optimize performance and reliability
- Create and maintain written and graphical technical documentation
- Create and execute testing procedures for hardware and software
- Operate robotic systems during field trials at remote locations
- Update supervisor daily on progresses and roadblocks
Qualifications
- Expertise with programming in C++ and/or Python
- Proficient with Fusion 360 or similar CAD, CAM, CAE software
- Proficient with Robot Operating System (ROS) and ROS packages on Linux
- Proficient and respectful communication skills
- Experience with developing robotic systems
- Experience with Fused Deposition Modelling 3D printers
- Experience soldering 1 mm (18+ AWG) and smaller wiring
- Experience in technical writing
- Experience with basic hand tools
- Able to travel periodically for system testing/trialing or for training purposes
- Able to cross Canadian and international borders without restrictions; passport and vaccination requirements are in good order
- Able to pass periodic drug and alcohol tests
- Able to be creative with problem solving
