Robotics Field Technician - Level 1
Description
Working closely with the Operation and Research teams, you will support field operations by becoming a technical expert on a variety of robotic equipment. You will operate, troubleshoot and repair equipment in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Travel between the office and client facilities to perform robotic operations
- Client site locations vary from out-of-province to out-of-country
- Work within confined spaces and at heights
- Able to handle heavy loads
- Identify and troubleshoot robotic equipment problems to minimize down time during field operations
- Maintain and repair existing equipment to ensure efficient operation
- Communicate status of project and tasks by creating and producing reports and or presentations
- Assist with training field personnel as required and provide technical insights and knowledge transfer
- Document field acquired data and design improvement on existing or newly developed equipment
- Read schematics drawings, layouts, data and process sheets to perform testing, build fixtures, analyze and trouble-shoot equipment
- Installs and validates equipment and processes during missions to improve yield and/or reduce project time following the established validation procedure
- Available to work shift work and support preventative maintenance or mobilization preparations on weekends
- Promote and support Continuous Improvement activities
- Simulate and troubleshoot robotic equipment
- Contributes/fosters Health & Safety
- Monitors existing processes and makes recommendations for improvement
- Involved in new processes
- Submit forms on time and maintain all paperwork for time tracking, mission data acquisitions, maintenance logs, and projects details
- Assist with project robotic activities (controls, electrical, mechanical and project management) through to project completion
- General working hours are Mon - Fri 8 am - 5 pm i.e. 44 hour week but should be flexible to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and night shifts as needed
Qualifications
- 3-4 years experience mechanical/electro mechanical maintenance/installation (it is not necessary to be licensed)
- Post-Secondary education in Engineering or Engineering Technology or related field is an asset
- Ability to read mechanical schematics and prints
- Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
- Quality Control background with expertise in problem solving and root cause analysis
- Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques
- Able to follow directions regarding robotic activities and assist the team where required
- Proficiency with MS office, Strong computer skills are required
- Experience using hand tools and machineries
- Support continuous improvement in the department and company as a whole
- Knowledge of CAD would be an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must have a valid driver’s license and travel between sites when required
- Flexible to work extended or after hours (when required)
- Manual dexterity, ability to work without constant supervision, ability to multi-task
- Ability to work in primarily a stand-up environment
- Good work history/references needed
- Ability to pass background/credit check
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must have a valid passport
- Must be fully vaccinated
- Must live near Edmonton area
